When SFPG first opened its doors in 1981, state of the art technology was 1" videotape and digital was what your clock radio's readout had. We had originally set out to be a video production and post-production facility. Since then, we've broadened our focus to now include four distinct Groups; the Editorial Group, Post and Audio Services, the Design Group and the New Media Group.
We've been a place of firsts the entire time -- the first to offer Avid on the West Coast, the beta test site for Dyaxis, a pioneer in offering SGI platforms for post-production and design in a production setting and one of the first to branch into a new medium that now lives under the wide umbrella of 'interactive' The merging of SFPG with Some Interactive in 1996 enlarged our talent pool and capabilities to fully embrace the amorphous world of 'New Media' The New Media Group encompasses a design, production and post-production mix to accommodate the multimedia and interactive markets. We currently create and produce world-wide web sites, computer games, interactive kiosks, CD-ROM titles and interactive television applications. Film and video has always been a prime focus for us. Our Editorial Group has two Avid 8000's humming full time with Agency work, as well as independent producers and production companies from all over the country and overseas. It's been said that movies are life with all the boring parts cut out. We like to think of our work as cutting all the interesting things in. The entire concept of post production has changed radically over the years, and so has our approach. The line between off line and online has blurred. Projects now finish in Avid or in Flame. Our Post and Audio Services is uniquely equipped to handle any cross platform projects that enter the door. Our D1 suite and all new Digital Audio Suite are both capable of complete networking with the entire facility. Our Design Group is a collective of designers, artists, animators and programmers who are as adept designing web sites as they are animating Budweiser bottles. We've got a Flame, an SGI Onyx, several Mac Suites as well as a full complement of colored pencils, crayons and all that other cool stuff that art departments always seem to have...
